Confession and forgiveness

Forgive me for the angry words
I didn't mean to say
Forgive me for the fit of sulks
That spoiled a happy day
Forgive me for the muddle
That I left upon the floor,
The tea I wouldn't eat,
The hasty way I slammed the door.
Forgive me for my selfishness
And all my little sins,
And help me to be better
When another day begins.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for taking care of me and loving me all through this day. I know that I have not been as good as I should all the time. Sometimes I have been lazy or disobedient and wanted my own way. Sometimes I have been quarrelsome and lost my temper. I have been greedy and selfish, wanting all the best things for myself. Please forgive me and help me to be better tomorrow. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for everything good and lovely today, but most of all, thank you for yourself and your great love for me.

O Lord, remember not only the men and women of good will, but also those of ill will. But do not remember all the suffering they have inflicted on us - remember the fruits we have bought, thanks to this suffering; our comradeship, our loyalty, our courage, our generosity, the greatness of heart which has grown out of all this, and when they come to judgement let all the fruits which we have borne be their forgiveness.
