Greetings from Canada

We were delighted to hear recently from a "long lost" member of our church family. Merilyn Hodgett, now resident in Canada, apparently attended our Sunday School something close to 50 years ago, and she was alerted to our website by her sister, Cheryl, still living in Fairlight.

A picture of our Sunday School from the early 60s or thereaboutsCheryl recognised herself in one of the pictures in our History section. She is the one standing at the extreme right of the photo, and younger brother Martin is at the front, just next to her.

Merilyn, it would seem, is not in the picture (I'm guessing that she is a year or two older ... please tell me if I'm wrong Merilyn), but she was kind enough to send a picture of herself.

Although she didn't say so, I think it's a fair assumption that the picture at the top of this page is of Merilyn then, and not Merilyn now.She also sent this picture (left), which shows her Nan, Olive Willard, with some of the other children who attended the Sunday School at around the same time.

Between them, Merilyn and Cheryl have offered to identify as many of the children as they can, and we look forward to hearing from them again. It was lovely to hear from both ladies, and we are delighted to count them still as members of our extended family.

Perhaps someone else reading this will recognise him/herself in the above picture. Or perhaps you have further pictures that we could share. Either way, please do make contact with us.
